Green Action Week Workshop on Organic Food – From Farm to Plate (25th September)

Consumer VOICE organised a consumer awareness workshop with the support from Consumers International and Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) under the Green Action Week campaign on September 25, 2017 at Hotel Crystal Palace, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad.

The main objective of the workshop was to spread awareness on the importance of organic farming and educate and encourage consumers to make a switch from conventional food which contains usage of chemicals and pesticides to organic food by highlighting the benefits of organic food.

Mr.Ashim Sanyal Chief Operating Officer, Consumer VOICE welcomed the guests and introduced the topic ‘Organic food - From farm to Plate’ to the esteemed guests. He spoke about Consumer VOICE’s initiative of “Prakritik Aaahar”. He also elaborated on the importance of organic food and the difference between organic and conventional food.

The main speaker of the event was Mr. Ajay Kumar Tripathi, Director Kheti Virasat Mission (KVM). Based in Faridkot, Punjab, KVM promotes sustainable, ecological farming practices as well as the conservation and regeneration of natural water resources. He also stressed on the benefits of organic food, importance of green practices, perils associated with pesticides and importance of adopting organic food. He emphasized on the different diseases caused due to high usage of pesticides in farming which is also harmful for environment.

Mrs. Shashi Kumar and Mrs. Achala Garg Chief Guests at the workshop and social activists appreciated the programme and highlighted the importance of organic food.


Consumer VOICE team members Ms.Rinki Sharma and Mr.Hemant Upadhyay shared their views on the subject matter as well.

Organic food packets from our initiative of Prakritik Aahar along with informative pamphlets on Green Action Week 2017 were distributed among the audience.

More than 80 participants including Resident Welfare Association ,Vasundhara Ghaziabad Vaishalli, women members of Bharat Vikas Parishad, members of Indian Wheel Club and retired government officials participated in the workshop and appreciated this kind of informative session. The workshop ended with a question-answer session by the experts.
