A health insurance under family floater policy is an enhanced version of a mediclaim policy in which the sum assured value floats among the family members, i.e, each member of the family is covered under a single plan and sum assured can be claimed by any member of the family. In the floater plan, the limit (sum assured) can be utilized by any member of the family who needs hospitalization. In India, there are good numbers of insurance providers who are capable of offering such policies to an applicant. However, like every consumer, when you go and look for the one, you may not be able to decide which one to opt for.
To help and educate consumers, Consumer Voice BFSI desk has evaluated 6 health insurance companies who provide such schemes under family floater policies. The evaluation was done on the basis related to pre-hospitalization, post-hospitalization, domiciliary treatment, day-care, newborn and maternity cover among others. However, this study is confined to sum insured of up to Rs. 5.00 lakhs policies.
