World Day of Remembrance (WDR) for Road Safety in Rajkot

Rajkot Saher Jilla Grahak Suraksha Mandal along with the staff and Students of the Saint Gargi School, Rajkot hold a rally for Road safety on 15th of November 2016.

The rally was started with by paying standing tribute to the victims who have lost their life in the road accidents. Participants were students, men, women and senior citizens.

The rally was flagged off by Mr. Anupsinh Gauhlat,  Hon’ble Commissioner Of Police, Rajkot .He appreciated the initiative for road safety through WDR event organised by VOICE in association with Rajkot Saher Jilla Grahak Suraksha Mandal Families of  traffic victims also attended the rally and shared their experience how they have lost their family members due to the unsafe roads. They demanded for the strict laws for road safety and stringent penalties.

According to MoRTH 2015 report Gujarat ranked in top thirteen states accounted for 86.7 per cent of all road accidents in the country. Recently in Rajkot only more than 18 people lost their life  in major accidents.

Representatives from various organisations participated in the rally including LIC of India Bureau of Indian Standards, New Delhi Central Consumer Protection Council (CCPC), New Delhi District Civil Supply Committee, Rajkot Programme Advisory Committee, Door Darshan Kendra, Ahmedabad General Secretary Indo-China Friendship Society, New Delhi elected director Shri Sahyog Credit Co- operative Society Limited, Rajkot Secretary Shantiniketan Co-op. Housing Society, Rajkot elected director Consumer Affairs & Protection Agency of Gujarat (CAPAG), Grahak Vani Weekly Gujarati Newspaper.
