Webinar on Tea for Good Health – Hosted by Consumer VOICE

Chai, cha, tea, call it by whatever name, a cup of good tea is all you need to cheer you up in the morning.  The ritual of drinking tea in India transcends all boundaries and it comes with different varieties. For example, some like it with milk, some black, some without sugar, some have now moved on to green tea and herbal tea as well. Whatever be the case, the health benefits of drinking tea are immense.  Having ginger tea when you have a cold is an age-old home remedy in India. With herbal tea and green tea coming in the market other health benefits have also emerged.

To reinstate the benefits of tea and the health benefits and wellness it brings due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and weight loss effects, Consumer VOICE along with Tea Board, Tea Research Association, TOCKLAI, and FAITTA (Federation of the All India Tea Traders Association) is organizing a webinar on International Tea Day on 21st May 2020 from 11 am.

What is International Tea Day

International Tea Day is observed on 21st May by the UN to re-emphasize ‘the call from the Intergovernmental Group on Tea to direct greater efforts towards expanding demand, particularly in tea-producing countries, where per capita consumption is relatively low, and supporting efforts to address the declining per capita consumption in traditional importing countries.’

About the Organisers

The present Tea Board set up under section 4 of the Tea Act 1953 was constituted on 1st April 1954. It has succeeded the Central Tea Board and the Indian Tea Licensing Committee which functioned respectively under the Central Tea Board Act, 1949, and the Indian Tea Control Act, 1938 which were repealed. The activities of the two previous bodies had been confined largely to the regulation of tea cultivation and export of tea as required by the International Tea Agreement then in force, and the promotion of tea consumption.
